FM announced that the government will set up an AIIMS in Haryana

NEW DELHI: Presenting the Modi government’s budget for 2019-20 in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Piyush Goyal mentioned that 10 lakh patients have been treated until now under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, the worlds largest health care programme. Goyal also mentioned that the government has been providing cheaper drugs through the Jan Aushadhi stores.

The minister said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre launched the worlds largest healthcare programme - Ayushman Bharat. He stated that Ayushman Bharat was launched to provide medical care to almost 50 crore people, resulting in 3,000 crore savings by poor families.

Emphasizing on the steps taken by the government to provide affordable health care to the poor, the Finance Minister stated that 21 All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) have been established or operating in the country. Of these, 14 have been sanctioned since 2014. He announced that the 22nd AIIMS will be set up in Haryana.
